Analytics & Data modelling tools
Databricks
databricks, built on Apache Spark, is a powerful data analytics platform. It offers all the tools and services needed to process data for Business Intelligence applications. Apache Spark enables fast processing of large datasets, and when combined with Databricks’ AI capabilities, it becomes one of the most robust data platforms available. You can host Databricks on your preferred cloud provider—Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Snowflake
Snowflake is a SaaS-based data analytics platform designed to handle both structured and unstructured data. Known for its efficiency, Snowflake excels at storing and processing large volumes of data while delivering the computational power required for extensive analytics tasks.
dbt
dbt (data build tool) simplifies data cleaning and transformation using SQL. It integrates seamlessly with computation engines like Snowflake and Databricks. At Cadran, we use dbt for all data modeling, enabling us to deliver solutions that are both accessible and flexible for our customers. Unlike platform-specific data models, dbt’s platform-agnostic approach makes it easy to switch between data platforms, such as migrating from a traditional SQL Server to modern solutions like Databricks.
Cloud vendors
Azure
Azure, Microsoft’s cloud platform, supports the hosting of any application or service. At Cadran, Azure is our go-to choice for building Data Platforms. Our flagship solutions, the Cadran Data Platform and the Azure Data Platform, are both hosted on Azure.
AWS
AWS, Amazon’s cloud platform, is another reliable option for hosting applications and services. At Cadran, we often use AWS for customers who already utilize AWS for other applications, ensuring seamless integration with their existing systems.
Business Intelligence
Tableau
Tableau, a leading Business Intelligence tool from Salesforce, stands out for its user-friendliness. Unlike Power BI, which often requires DAX expressions, Tableau enables users to create insights without extensive coding knowledge. Additionally, Tableau’s compatibility with Mac makes it an attractive choice for Mac users.
Power BI
PowerBI, Microsoft’s flagship BI tool, rivals Tableau as a market leader. Many companies already have Power BI licenses included in their Office 365 subscriptions, making it a cost-effective solution. Its familiar Excel-like interface ensures an easy learning curve for new users.
