Why do companies choose Tableau for NetSuite?

NetSuite provides a strong foundation with a built-in Business Intelligence (BI) tool that already includes many analytical capabilities. But for companies that want to do more – such as combining NetSuite data with other data sources, performing complex ad-hoc analyses, or applying advanced analytics – a specialized platform like Tableau is essential.

How does it work?

We set up a SQL data warehouse that automatically synchronizes your NetSuite data (and other data sources). Tableau connects to this warehouse, so you always have up-to-date data for analysis. In addition, Tableau dashboards integrate seamlessly into NetSuite via portlets, so you have all your insights in one place – including data from other systems.

What can you do with Tableau for NetSuite?

  • Combine NetSuite data with data from other systems
  • Ad-hoc analysis on large amounts of NetSuite data
  • Advanced techniques such as machine learning on NetSuite data
  • Integrate Tableau dashboards into NetSuite
  • Get started quickly with many standard dashboards
  • Use the free Tableau mobile app

All the possibilities of Tableau in NetSuite

Standard dashboards developed by Cadran Analytics

Cadran Analytics has developed standard Tableau dashboards for many NetSuite topics. Think of cash flow analysis, inventory aging analysis, expected revenue based on invoices and open orders, and more. These dashboards are a good starting point for almost any company: with a few adjustments you have a dashboard that provides exactly the insights you need.

These dashboards are based on standard data models that you can use without technical knowledge to create new dashboards yourself. These data models contain extensive fields and are therefore widely applicable.

Integrating Tableau Dashboards into NetSuite

One of the reasons to purchase NetSuite is that it offers many possibilities and therefore makes many old systems redundant. Then there is not always a need to purchase a separate BI tool. Fortunately, there is a solution for this; Tableau dashboards can easily (without technical knowledge) be integrated into NetSuite by means of a portlet. In this way, NetSuite is enriched with Tableau dashboards, without users noticing that they are different applications. In particular, by using SSO (Single Sign On) in both applications, the user-friendliness increases.

Integrate NetSuite data with other data sources

If you use NetSuite, you already have many types of data in one system. However, there are often other systems in use, such as HubSpot or Salesforce, that contain valuable information. By combining data from NetSuite and other systems, you can create insights in Tableau that were previously difficult or impossible to obtain. Think of a complete overview of the sales funnel, from lead to customer, or consolidated analyses of entities that use different systems.

Advanced techniques, such as machine learning, on NetSuite data

With the rise of AI, such as ChatGPT, companies are increasingly using smart techniques to improve processes. Not always to fully automate things, but to make a good first version of something that can then be quickly adjusted to a final version.

This can also be applied to NetSuite data. For example, think about safety stock: if you have a warehouse with many items, you will need to determine when a purchase order will be placed with a supplier for each of these items. AI can help with this; based on historical purchase and sales orders, an optimal safety stock can be determined for each item on a regular basis. An employee can then look at this and, based on his or her experience, can quickly see whether the safety stocks suggested by AI can be implemented in NetSuite.

When we do a BI implementation at Cadran, we take into account that such AI issues may become relevant in the future. We build a Data Platform that offers the right tools for this.

Real-time access with the free Tableau mobile app

With the Tableau mobile app, everyone in your organization can access relevant insights from your NetSuite data anytime, anywhere. For example, an account manager who visits multiple customers in one day can quickly see how much they’ve sold to a customer this year, which invoices are long overdue, and which products or services the customer might be interested in.
